Former Japan youth international Kondo Kuraba joins Albirex

SINGAPORE, 20 JANUARY 2021 – Albirex Niigata (S) have made Kondo Kuraba their fifth signing for the 2021 Singapore Premier League (SPL) season.
The 18-year-old arrives from Cerezo Osaka’s Under-18 side, but has already played in J3 League for their U-23s. The attacker made four appearances in 2019 and a further seven last year, which also saw him score his first goal at that level.

The Tokushima native arrives with impressive credentials, having been capped at U-15 and U-16 level for Japan, and was part of the squads that lifted the 2018 AFC U-16 Championship and 2018 WAFF U-16 Championship titles.

Kuraba is the latest in a line of Albirex arrivals with youth international experience for Japan in recent times, with former captain Kyoga Nakamura – now of Tampines Rovers – the most high-profile before him, having represented Japan at the 2013 U-17 World Cup.
