After coming in fifth in 2022, last season proved to be a difficult one for Tanjong Pagar as they finished second from bottom with only six wins to their name.

While they will aim to do better in the 2024/25 campaign, Hasrin Jailani’s task has not been made easier. Having released all four foreigners from 2023, including combative midfielder Blake Ricciuto, experienced local defenders Shakir Hamzah and Tajeli Salamat have also left the club.

To fill the void, the Jaguars have signed former Vissel Kobe midfielder Tomoki Wada. The 29-year-old Japanese – who has played for clubs in Indonesia and the Maldives – will hope to strike up a partnership with fellow new signing and French forward Salif Cisse in the final third.

In a bid to fix a leaky backline which shipped 62 goals last season, defenders Pathy Malumandsoko (France) and Timur Talipov (Uzbekistan) have been brought in to shore up the defence.

Long-serving players Fashah Iskandar and Shahrin Saberin as well as versatile defender Faizal Roslan are expected to play key roles this season, alongside midfielder Rezza Rezky who has joined on loan from Tampines Rovers.

With an eye on youth development, Tanjong Pagar have promoted two players from their Centre of Excellence Under-21 team, namely Daniel Elfian and Zahil Rahman.
