Courts Young Lions Out To Get First Home Win
Courts Young Lions vs Geylang International
(Sunday, 4 October, 7:30pm, Jalan Besar Stadium)
Courts Young Lions will have a chance to earn their first home win of the season when they take on Geylang International on Sunday evening at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
The Young Lions have not won in nine games at home so far this season, drawing twice and losing seven times.
All five wins in the season have come on the road, and there will be no doubt that the Young Lions will look to address this problem.
Against the bottom-placed Geylang, the Young Lions have a good chance of doing so.
The Eagles have not won in 10 straight league games, a run which has gone on for almost five months now.
However, they have drawn their last two matches – against title contenders Warriors FC and Balestier Khalsa – which suggests that their form is picking up.
The game is also one which Geylang cannot afford to drop any points if they want to avoid finishing last. They currently trail ninth-placed Young Lions by five points, although they do have two games in hand.
Jalan Besar has been one of the Eagles’ happy hunting ground this year too, having earned eight points in five games at the ground already this season, so do not put it past Geylang from ending their win-less streak as well.
Key Player to Watch
Courts Young Lions – Shameer Aziq
The right winger has been a joy to watch in recent games, where he has netted thrice in the same number of games.
Geylang will need to beware of the pacy winger and keep an eye on him if they want to earn a result.
Geylang International – Jozef Kaplan
In a season that has been rather inconsistent, Geylang captain Jozef Kaplan has been the sole bright spark for the Eagles.
Capable of winning a game on his own, Kaplan will be vital to the Eagle’s chances of ending their win-less run.
