Digital Push to Enhance Fan Experience for Local Football
SINGAPORE, 2 APRIL 2018: To curate a more enriching experience for local football fans, new initiatives on ticketing and broadcast will be undertaken in the 2018 Singapore Premier League (SPL) season.
Ticketing Platform
A one-stop ticketing platform has been launched to provide an enhanced ticketing experience, making it more convenient for fans to purchase tickets to matches organised by the FAS.
Partnering with APACTix to facilitate the process of purchasing tickets, fans will be directed to APACTix online or mobile channels from the ticketing platform to purchase tickets to National Team matches, SPL matches and SPL clubs’ season tickets. In addition, fans will be able to purchase SPL tickets via the ‘mySPL’ platform that was launched on 28 March 2018.
Ticket sales on APACTix started as of 12pm today for the first week of SPL matches and will go on sale every Monday for SPL matches in the upcoming week. For admission into the matches, fans can either print out the tickets at home or scan the ticket barcode from their mobile devices, eliminating the need for a physical ticket.
The ticketing platform complements and enhances the current model of on-site ticket sales, which will still be available.
Broadcast
The inaugural season of the SPL will also feature unprecedented coverage of matches in the digital sphere. With the view of creating a vibrant football culture and making content more accessible to fans, the FAS has strategically aligned itself with partners from mycujoo, Eleven Sports, and The Straits Times (ST) to maximise engagement for fans.
The FAS will be collaborating with Eleven Sports to broadcast live a total of over 80% of SPL matches which will be made available on mycujoo, as well as Eleven Sports Facebook page. Selected matches will be simultaneously streamed on the ST Facebook page. The Great Eastern Community Shield was the first match streamed live on mycujoo, Eleven Sports and ST Facebook pages simultaneously.
Match highlights will be available on ST Online and Eleven Sports platforms as well.
“We are thrilled to have agreed to this long-term partnership with the Football Association of Singapore, and to play a key role in its new journey with the Singapore Premier League,” said Pedro Presa, CEO of mycujoo. “The Singapore Premier League’s focus matches that of mycujoo, in providing a platform for aspiring players, and strengthening relationships between clubs and their communities. We are confident that this alignment will prove a success for all involved – especially the fans.”
Danny Menken, Group Managing Director, ELEVEN SPORTS said: “We are very pleased to partner with the number one domestic soccer league in Singapore, ensuring that we continue to deliver popular, locally relevant sports action for the fans in our markets. Our multi-platform partnership with the Singapore Premier League, which includes streaming via Facebook LIVE, fits perfectly with our global strategy to reach every fan, including those with a low barrier to entry. We are looking forward to working with the SPL to deliver domestic football for the fans in accessible, engaging and innovative ways.”
Rikram Jit Singh, FAS Deputy Director of Commercial and Business Development, said: “One of the objectives of the Singapore Premier League is to create a vibrant football culture and one of the ways we will be doing so is by enhancing fans’ experience. Ticketing is one key feature of their experience as we move towards streamlining processes and providing fans with greater convenience to join us on match days.
“The most important aspect of fans’ experience is when they are watching the match. We hope to provide them with the added option of streaming matches online that would also help us to reach out to a greater audience. We are thankful to have our broadcast and media partners share our sentiments and join us in providing a better experience to our fans.”
