Duric Holds Second Great Eastern Football Clinic
Written By: Kenneth Ho
Aleksandar Duric and Great Eastern worked together once again to hold another football clinic for children at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
As part of Great Eastern’s SG50 Wishes campaign, the company selected 50 wishes from the public and try to fulfil them as much as possible.
Duric had part of his wish fulfilled earlier in March this year, when Great Eastern organised the first of two children’s football clinics for him to impart his football knowledge with 60 children from Pertapis Children’s Home and Beyond Social Services.
Having had a very successful first session, Duric very much looked forward to the final clinic organised for beneficiaries from Beyond Social Services during the September school holidays.
“We started this year, and I wanted to have a wish to help these children with some soccer session, with co-operation from Great Eastern we managed to have two sessions this year,” Duric beamed.
“We did one in March, and this is our second one in September, so I am very happy to be part of this program, especially myself cause I like to work with the kids.
“It’s great to see so many kids today, as well as the last session in March. It has been a great turnout. I enjoy every moment spent with the kids, looking at them playing football and enjoying themselves.”
The former Singapore international also believed it was gratifying to see the kids recognised him, even though he hung up his boots last year.
“Football is a big sport not only in Singapore, but in the world and everyone follows it. It’s great to see the kids know who am I, so it means they are following it,” he said.
