Geylang International vs Home United
(Tuesday, 25 October, 7.30pm, Bedok Stadium)

Geylang International will welcome Home United to Bedok Stadium on Tuesday night where they will need to overcome an inferior goal difference to finish as the second-best local team in the Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League and qualify for 2017 AFC Cup.

Both teams will come into this tie as the remaining final two contenders for the last continental spot, but the Eagles will have to beat the Protectors by five goals or more to keep their AFC Cup dreams alive.

The Eagles, who knocked Hougang United out of contention for the AFC Cup spot in a 1-0 win in their last match, will enter this fixture with a better head-to-head record, having won three and drawn two of their last five S.League meetings against the Protectors.

However, Home are currently riding high on confidence after dismantling newly crowned champions Albirex Niigata (S) in a 3-1 victory the last time out,

Geylang have yet to score more than three goals in a match this season, and the Bedok-based side will need to put their on their scoring boots , having only scored eight times in their last five matches.

Home coach Aidil Sharin is determined to snatch all three points in this encounter and has given his opponents an indication on what his side sought to achieve.

“We still have one more job to do against Geylang, even if (the spot for the AFC Cup) is in our hands.

“I still want the three points in our last game and I know our boys also want the same thing,” he vowed.

The Protectors’ Ken Ilso will be a key man for the Eagles to keep an eye on at the back, as the Danish forward will be searching for a hat-trick to depose Brunei DPMM’s Rafael Ramazotti at the summit of the S.League leading scorers.

Both teams are not hit by any player suspensions, but Geylang will be sweating on the fitness of Singapore National Team winger Gabriel Quak who was sidelined in the previous match.
