Geylang International vs Warriors FC
(Friday, 14 October, 7.30pm, Bedok Stadium)

Having entered the international break on the back of a narrow loss to current Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League league leaders Albirex Niigata (S), a determined Geylang International side will be looking bounce back quickly on Friday night when they take on Warriors FC.

The Eagles are keen to erase the memories of a 1-0 loss to the White Swans as they seek to catch up with Home United and Hougang United above them in the league table in order to stand a chance to finish as the second-best local team and qualify for the 2017 AFC Cup.

The return of Syazwan Buhari, Daniel Bennett, Faritz Hameed, Gabriel Quak, Shawal Anuar and Sahil Suhaimi from international duty with Singapore, as well as key striker Mark Hartmann’s recovery from injury will be a welcome sign for Geylang coach Hasrin Jailani, who will miss playmaker Carlos Delgado.

Geylang have yet to defeat Warriors in the league in two attempts this year however, drawing their first meeting 2-2, before falling to a 2-0 defeat to the nine-times S.League champions.

Razif Onn’s charges are on a mini-revival after a tough season which has seen them languishing in the bottom half of the table and the Choa Chu Kang-based club are currently on a three-game unbeaten run.

Warriors also managed a convincing 2-0 defeat of Albirex before the international break and that result will give them a boost going into their match against the Eagles.

However, they will have do so without the services of suspended duo Shaiful Esah and Hafiz Nor, as well as Ridhuan Muhamad who is carrying an injury. Madhu Mohana returned from international duty with Singapore unscathed and will be available for selection.
