Written by: Shawn Lim
Fazrul Nawaz carried over his red-hot form in the Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League to the international stage after scoring for Singapore in a World Cup Qualifier match against Cambodia.
The Warriors FC striker, currently the third-joint top scorer in the league, came on as a half-time substitute for the Lions to replace the injured Khairul Amri and scored after spending less than two minutes on the pitch.
Fazrul was overjoyed after the match, giving credit to his club and his coach Alex Weaver for the confidence they placed in him.
“I have to thank my club and the coach for putting faith in me because it gives me the confidence to play well,” said the 30-year-old.
“This season has been good for me so far and I thank God that I’m playing well at the moment and hopefully I can keep my form going.”
