Geylang International Football Club have announced Rotary Engineering Limited as the club’s sponsor, and the team squad for the 2014 Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League season.

Rotary Engineering Limited is one of the region’s leading oil and gas infrastructure services companies, with extensive international experience. It offers fully integrated engineering design, procurement and construction (EPC) services to the oil and gas, petroleum, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

With its headquarters in Singapore, Rotary has established a strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region and continues to make its mark as a global player. The group today boasts a strength of over 7,000 employees, which include a highly and multi-skilled workforce that forms the mainstay of its core EPC services.

The sponsorship from Rotary Engineering Limited strengthens Geylang International FC’s commitment to community engagement and youth development, for example, the SMU-Bedok View Secondary School Mentorship Programme.

With the sponsorship, Rotary Engineering Limited’s local and foreign workers will benefit from Geylang International FC soccer activities and clinics that will be conducted at the workers’ dormitories on a regular basis.

Mr Leong Kok Fann, chairman of Geylang International FC, said, “We are extremely grateful for the generous sponsorship of Rotary Engineering. This is indeed a very timely and inspirational gesture towards the club. We shall strive to ensure that our values of hard work, commitment and passion justify the trust and confidence placed on us and will work tirelessly to bring about a mutually beneficial relationship”.

Geylang International also announced its squad for the new S.League season. Five players, Fabian Kwok, Jalal Jasim, Shah Hirul, Joey Sim and Khairulnizam Jumahat, have been retained, while Wyldan Wisam, formerly a Prime League player, has been promoted to the senior squad.

There are 11 new faces in the team this year, including ex-internationals Ridhuan Muhammad, Aliff Shafaein, Hafiz Nor and Mustaqim Manzur, while Siddiq Durimi has returned to the club after two years playing in the FAS National Football League.

Vedhamuthu Kanan, head coach of Geylang International FC commented, “Our target is to qualify for the AFC Cup next year. We really want to do well in the league and cup competitions this year. Our preparations start with the IFA Shield tournament in India, where we played some quality teams.”

“Although we lost two games and drew the other, these high intensity matches were important and will be useful when we start our 2014 S.League campaign on 23 February,” added Kanan.

The Eagles will kick-off their 2014 S.League season with a trip to Choa Chu Kang Stadium on 23 February to take on Alex Weaver’s Warriors FC.
