As the group stages of the StarHub League Cup come to an end, Group C winners Home United and Group D runners-up Hougang United battle it out at the Bishan Stadium for a semi-final spot.

Home are on a good run as they are unbeaten for five games, with four of their latest being wins.

They enjoy a 100% record in the group stages, after 6-1 and 2-0 victories over Woodlands Wellington and Singapore Recreation Club respectively.

Their quarter-final opponents, Hougang, were on a roller-coaster ride as they overcame Balestier Khalsa in a comfortable 3-0 scoreline but faced a narrow 3-2 defeat in the hands of Brunei DPMM.

Home’s coach Lee Lim Saeng remains confident ahead of the clash, as he made a wise choice of resting a few key players in their last game, including Lee Kwan Woo and Fazrul Nawaz.

“Hougang is a good and hardworking side, thus we must prepare well,” he commented.

“It is not going to be easy against them and my players are all ready for the game.”

His counterpart, Amin Nasir revealed that his focus would be on defence.

“They have quality in the squad and we need to be tight at the back,” he shared.

“Since it is the quarter-final, i would not say that we would not be offensive to earn a result. But we will not have an attacking game, but we will use the ball wisely.”

As such, custodian and skipper Fadhil Salim would be hoping to be supported by defenders like Igor Ferreira and Wahyudi Wahid to ensure they do not give the Protectors much space.

The winner of this game would be facing the winner of the fixture between Tanjong Pagar United and Geylang International.
