Home Draws Loyola Meralco in Singapore Cup Quarter Final

Home United earned a tantalising fixture against invited side Loyola Meralco Sparks in the quarter-final of the RHB Singapore Cup after they were drawn to face the Philippines side.

The two-legged tie will see Home host the first leg as the reigning champions look to recapture their cup title for the second consecutive years.

Tampines Rovers will take on Tanjong Pagar, while Balestier Khalsa will face Geylang International.

Rounding up the quarter final will be the match-up between league leaders Brunei DPMM and fellow title contenders Albirex Niigata (S).

With only two stages to go before the final, most coaches were adamant any tie now does not make a difference if the team wants to win the tournament.

“Geylang, Tampines, Tanjong Pagar what’s the difference? I cannot be too confident in a cup game, we can beat anyone – I am confident of that,” said Balestier coach Marko Kraljevic.

“In two games it also hard for teams to beat us in two games. In three weeks’ time hopefully we keep same form we can do it.”

“Any team can beat any team now, top teams can also lose games.” Tampines coach Rafi Ali said. “For me, just focus and do your job to the best of your ability,
