Home Not Giving Up Yet Despite DPMM’s Advantage

RHB Singapore Cup SF Second Leg: Home United vs Brunei DPMM
(Tuesday, 24 November, 7:30pm, Yishun Stadium)

2015 S.League champions Brunei DPMM will be looking to secure the double by winning the Singapore Cup as well.

They will however, need to dispatch Home United in the semi-final before dreaming of the double, although the Bruneians do hold a 3-2 lead on aggregate.

In the first-leg, DPMM had to come from 2-1 down to win 3-2, with the winner coming through S.League top scorer Rafael Ramazotti in the dying minutes.

While it was a close shave for DPMM coach Steve Kean, going on to lift the S.League trophy will have a huge confidence booster for them.

Kean even claimed that DPMM are the strongest team by far in S.League. He said: “ We are the fittest team and showed tactically and technically we can keep the ball, and cause teams problems no matter what they do – even if they are physical or if they play on the counter attack.”

However, Home coach Philippe Aw is not throwing in the towel just yet.

Winning the Singapore Cup final means that Home will be guaranteed a spot in the AFC Cup, Asia’s second tier continental competition, and the Protectors will be looking to return to the regional stage.

The Protectors will also be looking to make the final for the third straight year, which will be a record ninth time.

They will come into the game on the back of a win against Courts Young Lions, something which Aw believes will do wonders for the team.

“We go into the semi-finals on a winning momentum,” he said. “The boys know that their hard work will eventually pay off if they work hard enough.”

The winners of this tie will face either Albirex Niigata (S) or Global FC in the final, which will be held on Friday, 27th November.
