The 30-year-old’s arrival was announced earlier this evening on the club’s social media platforms and the Singapore international will boost their midfield options for the upcoming campaign.

Known for his precise passing and playmaking abilities, Izzdin’s move to the east comes after four seasons at Bishan – 2017 to 2019 with Home United, then last year with the Lion City Sailors. Capped 39 times by the Lions, Izzdin was a regular in those first two years with Home and led them to the AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal crown in 2018. He was laid low by injury in 2019 and then found regular game time hard to come by last season, making just three starts in 11 games despite being the club captain.

With over 150 SPL appearances since making his debut in 2009 with the Young Lions, Izzdin will aim to reignite his career at Geylang under Mohd Noor Ali. The midfielder, who first played for Home in 2014, a spell sandwiched by a season each with the LionsXII, also spent 2016 at Tampines Rovers and looks set to complement Dutchman Barry Maguire in the heart of the Eagles’ engine room.

Izzdin is Geylang’s third arrival of pre-season, following the loan signings of Faizal Roslan and Iqram Rifqi, both of whom have also come from the Sailors.
