SINGAPORE, 18 DECEMBER 2020 – Former Singapore international Khairul Amri has returned to the Singapore Premier League (SPL) after signing for Tanjong Pagar United.

The 35-year-old becomes the Jaguars’ third new signing and is another statement move from the side that finished bottom in the recently-concluded 2020 season after returning to the league for the first time since 2014.

Regarded as one of the region’s finest strikers, Amri spent the 2020 season with Felda United, who finished second-last in the Malaysia Super League. Tanjong Pagar becomes the third SPL club that the former Young Lions and Tampines Rovers player will turn out for. A proven goalscorer, Amri has made over 200 appearances and scored over 100 times in the SPL since making his debut with the Young Lions in 2004.

In September 2019, Amri called time on an international career that saw him score 32 times in 132 appearances for Singapore, including in three ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Championship finals – all of which the Lions won.

Amri joins Australian midfielder Blake Ricciuto and Reo Nishiguchi as new arrivals at Tanjong Pagar, who have also retained the services of Luiz Junior, last season’s top scorer.
