SINGAPORE, 20 JANUARY 2021 – Hougang United have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Khairul Nizam.

The 29-year-old striker moves on after one season at Geylang International, where he scored four goals in 10 appearances. The Cheetahs will be the fifth Singapore Premier League (SPL) club of Nizam’s career after the Young Lions, Home United and Warriors FC.

The powerful attacker becomes Hougang’s eighth new arrival for the 2021 campaign and joins a stable of offensive options that include fellow new signings Shahril Ishak and Tomoyuki Doi, as well as Shawal Anuar, Shahfiq Ghani, Sahil Suhaimi, Farhan Zulkifli and Naufal Azman.

Regarded as one of Singapore’s most promising forwards when he made his professional debut in 2009, Nizam has not quite fulfilled his potential due to a series of knee injuries. He has been capped 24 times at international level, although he is yet to find the net for the Lions.

An incredible long-range strike saw Nizam land the SPL Goal of the Year award last season and Hougang will hope for more moments of magic from their new signing in the upcoming campaign.
