Protectors Hope To End Group Stage With Perfect Record

StarHub League Cup Group C

Home United host National Football League’s Division One team, Singapore Recreation Club (SRC) at the Bishan Stadium on Monday night in their second and final game of Group C in the StarHub League Cup.

The outcome of their first game was least expected as they thrashed Woodlands Wellington 6-1 and that win has most probably secured their quarter-final berth.

With three points in their bag, the only possibility for the Protectors to finish third in the group and get knocked out would be in a case of goal difference, and even that seems improbable as they are already relishing a goal difference of five, after the massive defeat over Woodlands.

However, merely qualifying would not be enough for a team of high standards, and Lee Lim Saeng’s side would be keen to cap off  the group with another win to secure the top spot, this time it being over SRC.

“I am still going to field in my best eleven, if there are no injury problems,” Lee said.

“I hope the players i choose put on a constant performance this friday.”

Having had six different scorers in the last game, Home has a huge list of players to rely on in banging the goals.

SRC on the other hand were the victims of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Woodlands, and would be needing at least a win to ensure qualification for the quarter-finals.

Their team manager, S.Mogan admitted that it would be a very difficult task.

“Home is a a very good side and we are the underdogs. We will try our best and see how things go,” he revealed.

The NFL side would be relying on former Singapore International Itimi Dickson to bang the goals in while former S.League player Daniel Hammond would be looking to keep Fazrul Nawaz and Lee Kwan Woo at bay.
