Bill Mamadou joins Young Lions

SINGAPORE, 18 OCTOBER 2020 – The Young Lions have reinforced their ranks with the addition of midfielder Bill Mamadou.

The signing of the 19-year-old was announced earlier today on the club’s social media channels. Mamadou, who joins from the Lion City Sailors, is Nazri Nasir’s second mid-season signing in the 2020 AIA Singapore Premier League (SPL) after Zamani Zamri made the move from Albirex Niigata (S) earlier this month.

Mamadou turned out for Home United’s Under-17 side and was called up to join first-team training by then-head coach Aidil Sharin when he was three months shy of his 16th birthday in 2017. Mamadou, whose preferred position is as a holding midfielder, was also part of the Singapore U17 squad in 2018 and made his professional debut last season for Home as a substitute in their 1-0 win over Brunei DPMM in July 2019.

He is the son of former Singapore international Bah Mamadou, who was born in Guinea and spent 14 years playing for five different clubs in the SPL between 2001 and 2014.

Mamadou is in line for a possible debut when the Young Lions host Albirex later today at Jurong West Stadium.
