Late drama defines the battle for fourth

Balestier Khalsa took a significant step towards securing fourth spot in a dramatic encounter against Geylang International. Jakov Katusa opened the scoring with a fine curled effort in the 22nd minute before Daniel Goh doubled the advantage 16 minutes later.
Geylang responded through Ryoya Taniguchi’s well-taken freekick just before the break and continued to push, eventually drawing level in the 84th minute through Shuhei Hoshino, who had been pushed forward in search of a goal.
However, their push for an equalizer left the Eagles exposed, and Elijah Lim struck in stoppage time to seal a crucial win for the Tigers – opening up a six-point gap in the race for fourth.

Lion City Sailors secured back-to-back league titles after a hard-fought goalless draw against BG Tampines Rovers in a high-stakes clash.
With talisman Hide Higashikawa sidelined, the Stags reshuffled and started brightly, with Zikos Chua having an early effort ruled out for offside. Despite their urgency, BG Tampines were unable to break down a disciplined Sailors backline, expertly marshalled by Bailey Wright and Toni Datkovic.
The result was enough for the Sailors to clinch the title, underlining their consistency and defensive resilience. BG Tampines, meanwhile, will now turn their attention towards securing second place and a spot in the Asian Champions League 2 (ACL2).

An injury-hit Young Lions side produced a spirited display but were left heartbroken after conceding late against Albirex Niigata (S).
With 18-year-old debutant Nur Muhammad partnering Iryan Fandi in defence, the Young Lions stood firm under sustained pressure, with Izwan Mahbud delivering a standout performance in goal. Abner Vinicius also provided a threat in transition, coming close with a powerful long-range effort.
However, their resistance was broken in stoppage time when they conceded a penalty, and Shingo Nakano converted to secure all three points. Despite the defeat, the performance offered encouragement, highlighting the resilience and character within the young squad.
Albirex hitting form at the right time
Albirex Niigata (S)’s narrow win over Young Lions may not have been their most convincing performance, but it could prove just as significant in the context of their season.
After a run of three consecutive wins in recent weeks, this was a different kind of test – one that required patience and persistence against a resolute Young Lions side. The White Swans relentlessly probed and applied pressure, eventually finding the breakthrough in stoppage time through Shingo Nakano.
The result keeps Albirex firmly in the hunt for second place and the coveted ACL2 spot, while also underlining their ability to grind out results when the game does not go their way. As the season reaches its conclusion, that adaptability could prove decisive.

Hougang United kept their push for a fifth-placed finish alive with a narrow win over Tanjong Pagar United.
Saifullah Akbar opened the scoring just before half-time after good work from Farhan Zulkifli, but the Jaguars responded strongly in the second half through a superb strike from Estevez Emilio.
Hougang regained control and were awarded a penalty, only for Zaiful Nizam to deny Victor Blasco. However, the Cheetahs would not be denied, as Farhan struck in stoppage time to secure victory and keep them within touching distance of fifth place.
