Quak Sets Sights On Three Points

Geylang International vs Hougang United

(Saturday, 18 June, 8pm, Bedok Stadium)

Both Geylang International and Hougang United suffered a defeat in their previous Great Eastern-Yeo’s S.League match and Gabriel Quak is keen to get back to winning ways when his team goes up against the Cheetahs at the Bedok Stadium on Saturday night.

The two teams are separated by just one point, with the Eagles on fifth spot on 18 points and the Cheetahs sitting above them in the league table.

“This month the games will be fast, because we are playing four to five games in the space of three weeks. Hougang themselves are not doing really well, they played well against Albirex but they lost” said Quak.

“It’ll be two teams who want to set the record straight and definitely it’s not going to be easy.  Hougang this season has not been an easy team to play with,” added the Geylang midfielder.

“Before the break, we were winning four to five games and to come back from the break to lose to start this busy month I think it’s a bit demoralizing. We must get back to winning ways.”

For the Cheetahs, head coach K.Balagumaran will also be looking for the three points and will hope his charges put out a similar performance as they did in their defeat against Albirex Niigata (S).

“We did very well in the first-half, defended well because we knew they would come at us in numbers and we scored a goal,” said Balagumaran.

“I thought we could keep our tactical discipline and stay compact in the second-half, but the equaliser changed the game and we couldn’t cope with them after that.”
