SINGAPORE, 11 MARCH 2021 – Tampines Rovers will contest their Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League 2021 Group H matches about two months later than initially scheduled.
The AFC had announced in late January that the group stage matches in the ACL East Region, which include Tampines, would be played from 21 April to 7 May at a centralised venue. However, the Asian football governing body announced earlier this evening that these matches have now been rescheduled to June/July due to “existing travel restrictions and quarantine challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.” AFC added that the venue for Groups H and I are yet to be decided. The matches in the other three groups in the East Region, namely Groups F, G and J, will be staged in Thailand.
Tampines Rovers, who will make their ACL debut proper, have been drawn against A-League champions Sydney FC, K League 1 and Korean FA Cup champions Jeonbuk Hyundai and J1 League runners-up Gamba Osaka.
