Tampines Rovers, Hougang United find out 2022 AFC Cup group-stage opponents

SINGAPORE, 17 JANUARY 2022 – Tampines Rovers and Hougang United were drawn into Group H and Group I respectively for the 2022 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup earlier today.

In the draw ceremony conducted at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Stags were grouped with Malaysia Cup winners Kuala Lumpur City, Indonesia’s PSM Makassar and either Shan United or Ayewady United from Myanmar. Meanwhile, fellow AIA Singapore Premier League (SPL) representative, the Cheetahs, will face V.League 1 runners up Viettel, Cambodian champions Phnom Penh Crown and Myanmar’s Hantharwady United.

This will be Tampines’ 12th appearance at Asia’s second-tier club competition, while it will be Hougang’s second. Group-stage matches will be played on a single round-robin format in centralised venues between 24 June and 30 June. Both groups are part of the ASEAN Zone, along with Group J. The three group winners, along with the best runner-up, will advance to the zonal semi-finals.
