Tampines Rovers sign Fazrul Nawaz

SINGAPORE, 7 OCTOBER 2020 – Experienced striker Fazrul Nawaz will don the colours of Tampines Rovers for the remainder of the 2020 AIA Singapore Premier League (SPL) season.

The Stags announced the signing of the 35-year-old late on Tuesday night on their social media channels and stated that he will be assigned the number 28 jersey. It marks the club’s second incoming transfer of the mid-season window, with centre-back Baihakki Khaizan having put pen to paper in June.

This will be Fazrul’s second time turning out for Tampines, having scored 16 times in 55 appearances for them between 2016 and 2018. The forward had been without a club since leaving Hougang United – whom he joined midway through the 2018 season – at the end of the 2019 campaign.

It will be Fazrul’s 16th season playing in the SPL, having made his professional debut with Geylang United in 2004. He started off playing with Sembawang Rangers in the Prime League in 2002 before spending 2003 with the Singapore Under-18s. Fazrul scored seven league goals in his maiden season and five more the following year, before going on to spend time with the Young Lions (2006-2007), Geylang (2008), Gombak United (2009-2010), Singapore Armed Forces FC (2011-2012), LionsXII (2013), Home United (2014), Sabah FA (2015) and Warriors FC (2015).

The Singapore international, who has 13 goals in 86 caps since debuting for the Lions in June 2005, will now have the opportunity to add to his tally of 115 league goals when the season resumes.
