Prime League: Home United Claim Top Spot In Tight Game

Written By: Kenneth Ho

Week six of the Great Eastern Yeo’s Prime League saw Home United becoming top dogs of the division after a hard-fought victory over National Football Academy (NFA) U18 .

Home fought out an even first half with NFA when they took the lead through Haziq Azman in the 12th minute of the game only to see Zuzfadhmi Suzliman equalise for the hosts seven minutes later.

However, Nur Hizami struck after the hour mark to see Home gain maximum points and go top in the table. Home now have 14 points while NFA sit in second place with 10 points, although the latter do have a game in hand.

Warriors FC made sure they were not off the pace in the race for the title by trouncing Geylang International 4-0 to sit five points behind Home.

A brace by Suria Prakash and a goal apiece by Haiqal Noor and Shahrul Syafiq condemned the Eagles to their fourth defeat of the season as they remain rooted to the bottom of the league.

Hougang United and Tanjong Pagar United remained in the bottom half of the table as both sides were unable to outwit each other, and had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

In an exciting game at Woodlands Stadium, Tampines Rovers did well to come back from a two-goal deficit as Taufik Suparno struck twice in the first half to cancel out Sobrie Mazelan and Oskar John Wallin’s goal.

But there was no stopping the Rams as Sa’id Wasil thumped one in midway into the second half to allow his team to remain within touching distances of Home United, with Woodlands now having nine points and being five points away from the league leaders.
