Prime League: Rams Snap Protector’s Winning Streak; Tigers Record First Win
Written by: Phoon Jia Hui
Home United dropped points for the first time in the Great Eastern Yeo’s Prime League after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Woodlands Wellington.
In a clash at the Woodlands Stadium, the Protectors went in front just before the interval through skipper Haziq Azman but Woodlands’ Sa’id Wasil levelled things in the 59th minute to earn his side a point against the league leaders.
Elsewhere at the Bukit Gombak Stadium, Tanjong Pagar United’s unbeaten run came to a halt after a 2-1 reverse to National Football Academy (NFA) U18.
Taufiq Muqminin struck the winner in the 52nd minute for the Cubs, right after Shafiq Noh cancelled out Iqram Rifqi’s 46th-minute opener.
Reigning champions Balestier Khalsa meanwhile picked up their first win of the season with a 2-0 win over NFA U17 at the Jurong West Stadium.
First-half goals from Saeki Osamura and V Sathiyamoorthy were enough for D. Tokijan’s side to lift themselves off the bottom of the table on goal difference.
At the Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Warriors FC and Hougang United played out a goalless draw as the former team extended their unbeaten run to three games although all have ended in stalemates.
The game between Singapore Cubs and Geylang International was postponed.
