Protectors Aim To Halt Winless Streak Against Wasps
Brunei DPMM FC vs Home United FC
(Friday, 11 March, 8.15pm, Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium)
In spite of a less than ideal start to their season, defending champions Brunei DPMM FC have managed to keep pace with the top clubs as they cling onto the fourth position with five points from four outings.
A key problem for the Bruneian outfit seems to be in defence as they have conceded five goals this season, tying with both Tampines Rovers and Warriors FC for the second-worst defensive record.
As for Home United, considering the attacking firepower on their hands, the Protectors have endured a nightmare start to the season.
The Protectors are struggling to convert their chances in front of goal are are sitting at in eighth position, with two points from three games played.
Home will be hunting for their first win this season but DPMM looked like a lethal side the last time they played at home, notching up a convincing 3-1 win over the Warriors a fortnight ago.
If the Protectors are able to break out of their winless streak at the home of the defending champions, it will be a major morale boost for Philippe Aw’s team and a good launchpad for their season.
For this reason, Aw was quick to point out that his team will be going all out for maximum result.
“We will definitely attempt to put in a strong display against them [Brunei DPMM FC] and will try to bring back three points from Brunei,” said Aw.
Key Men To Watch
Brunei DPMM: Rosmin Kamis
With Home boasting an abundance of attacking players such as Irfan Fandi, Ken Ilso and Faris Ramli, the Wasps will be looking to captain Rosmin Kamis to break down the attack of the Protectors.
Rosmin will have to organise his team and keep it compact in order to stifle the attacking threat posed by the Protectors.
His distribution from deep will also be key in making full use of attacking trio of Azwan Ali, Rafael Ramazotti and Paulo Sergio.
Home United: Ken Ilso
Having scored 11 goals during his first season in the S.League, Ilso will be looking to better his scoring record after the former Bundesliga hitman finally broke his scoring duck for the Protectors with a brilliant effort against Tampines Rovers
Confidence is a striker’s best friend and Ilso is poised to continue his scoring run against the Wasps in his bid to help Home United claim their first win of the season.
