Protectors Face Gutsy Young Lions
Home United vs Courts Young Lions
(August 28, Thursday, 7.30pm, Bishan Stadium)
Written by: Kenneth Ho
Home United will entertain Courts Young Lions at Bishan Stadium on Thursday evening in the final game of the second round of the Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League.
While the Young Lions are destined to finish in the bottom half of the table this season, their opponents Home still have the title to fight for.
The Protectors are five points adrift of leaders Brunei DPMM and are still pretty much in the hunt for their first league title since 2003.
Against fellow title-contenders, Home United have acquitted themselves well by defeating Albirex while drawing with Warriors FC recently.
This should serve as a warning to Young Lions to not take the Protectors lightly, especially after they were gunned down 4-1 by Warriors FC recently.
At the same time, complacency will be something Home have to look out for. Hougang found that out to their chagrin as they went down 2-1 at Jalan Besar five days ago to the developmental side. Despite being in the top half of the table, the found the Young Lions in irresistible form.
While Home have an impressive offense line-up, the Young Lions are well well-marshalled at the back by skipper Al-Qaasimy Rahman who has impressed national selectors and was called up to represent the Singapore Selection side which played against Italian giants Juventus earlier this month.
Key Men To Watch
Home United: Fazli Ayob
The midfielder has scored two goals in his last two games, with one being a spectacular effort from 20 yards out in the game against Albirex. Already boasting some of the best attacking players within the mix, Home just got even more dangerous with Fazli’s recent form.
The winger is also capable of linking up plays, as he accomplished 82% success rate of passes against Albirex. With him in the side, the Young Lions will have one more player to watch out for.
Courts Young Lions: Sahil Suhaimi
With him the team just instantly becomes better. Sahil has turned out to be a revelation this season and has been one of the brightest sparks in the team with his goalscoring exploits upfront.
There will be goals in this match, and if Sahil has a say, he will be among the scorers.
