S.League Transfer News Roundup: 17 December

The S.League transfer window has been barely opened for two weeks, but clubs have already made a number of signings to boost their squad for the 2016 campaign.

Geylang International has the most active, as they look to regain their glory days.

The Eagles have signed former LionsXII players Faritz Hameed, Al-Qaasimy Rahman, Sahil Suhaimi and Gabriel Quak, as well as Stanely Ng (Home United), Taufiq Ghani (Hougang United), Syazwan Buhari, Saifirul Sulaiman, Shahfiq Ghani, Amy Recha (Courts Young Lions). In addition, they have signed veteran Shariff Abdul Samat, who last played for Tampines Rovers in 2014.

On the other hand, Tampines Rovers have also bolstered their ranks with six LionsXII players, namely Christopher Van Huizen, Hafiz Sujad, Afiq Yunos, Izzdin Shafiq, Sufian Anuar and Firdaus Kasman. They have also signed 2015 local top scorer Fazrul Nawaz from Warriors FC, a move that will help solve their goalscoring issues upfront.

Hougang United meanwhile, have agreed terms with Raihan Rahman and Wahyudi Wahid. It will be Wahyudi’s second stint with the Cheetahs, having plied his trade at Hougang Stadium in 2014, before joining LionsXII in 2015.

Home United have also added towering centre-back Sim Teck Yi to their squad, after he was released from Courts Young Lions. Apart from Sim, the club have agreed terms to retain a number of players from last season – Shahrin Saberin, Mahathir Azeman, Abdil Qaiyyim, Juma’at Jantan, Song Uiyong, Redzwan Atan, Eko Pradana Putra and Sufianto Salleh.
