Courts Young Lions forward Sahil Suhaimi was recently part of the Singapore Selection side which took on Juventus FC at the rebuilt National Stadium on August 16 and that game ended 5-0 in favour of the visitors.

Sahil came on for club teammate Al-Qaasimy Rahman with about half an hour to go and while the former failed to find the net, he looked confident and did not seem too overawed by the occasion.

Most likely tasked to be the frontman for the Under-23 side when they go to the Asian Games in September, Sahil is convinced such experiences will stand him in good stead for his development.

“It’s world-class. They [Juventus] and us [are different]. They are up there and we are still developing to be better,” the 22-year-old commented.

“It’s great to play against this kind of team and I think we need more of such games of high intensity for us to get better in future.”

The National Football Academy graduate also hopes this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity can help spur him on especially with the next Southeast Asian Games which will be held in the Republic next year looming.

“[It will also help] improve and really motivate me to train harder at every training [session] and to be like them [Juventus players] in future,” added Sahil.
