Khairulnizam Dedicates Goal To Team

Weeks after Geylang International’s Fabian Kwok struck an incredible half-field goal against Albirex Niigata (S), teammate Khairulnizam Jumahat fired in a 40-yard rocket goal in their 5-1 win over Woodlands Wellington in the RHB Singapore Cup preliminary round.

Pouncing on the Rams’ Chang Jo Yoon clearance from Mustaqim Manzur’s freekick, the right-back did not think twice as he bravely attempted a first-time unstoppable shot which perfectly sailed past everyone including Woodlands goalkeeper Yazid Yasin into the top corner of the net.

After their progression to the Singapore Cup quarter-finals, the Eagles defender was still in disbelief that he scored such a brilliant goal.

“I feel proud of myself and happy,” said Khairulnizam

“After scoring that goal for the team, it gave a good motivation to keep going in the game against Woodlands.”

But Khairulnizam was not keen to hog the limelight and he gave credit to the squad for their teamwork and effort in the win.

“The goal is meant for the team not only for me.”

“Yes lately we’ve been doing some shooting practice in training. They praised me for that goal and like I said the goal is for the team,” added Khairulnizam.
