SINGAPORE, 4 AUGUST 2024 – In a lead-up to the much-anticipated return of The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup on 17 August 2024, Singapore fans gathered to receive their tickets at a special ceremony on Friday (2 Aug) evening.

Held at the Jalan Besar Stadium, the event was graced by Guest-of-Honour Tan Sri Dato’ Abd Karim Munisar, Chairman and Team Manager of The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup and attended by representatives from the various Singapore Premier League (SPL) fan groups.

Mr. Teo Hock Seng, Head of the Singapore Delegation for The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup, emphasized the significance of the event: “Since its inception in 2001, The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup has been a cornerstone of our local football calendar. His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s vision in establishing this friendly competition has been instrumental in fostering both rivalry and camaraderie between Singapore and Selangor.”

He added, “Fans are the lifeblood of football. Their passion breathes life into the game, and we are grateful for their unwavering support. This ticket presentation is our way of acknowledging their dedication and inviting them to join us at the Merdeka Stadium.”

“I’m grateful for the privilege to coach the SPL Selection team and it’s especially meaningful to me to do so against Selangor in Malaysia,” said de Roo.

“My time in Malaysia was incredibly rewarding and I fully appreciate the importance of the Merdeka Stadium in Malaysian football history. We’re eagerly anticipating the challenge ahead.”
