Eagles Land Former LionsXII Defender Faritz

Written by: Shawn Lim

Geylang International have started rebuilding for next season after securing the services of former LionsXII player Faritz Hameed to bolster their defence, which shipped in 44 goals this past season.

The Eagles swooped in to sign the defender when the Football Association of Singapore confirmed that the LionsXII will be disbanded after the team were unceremoniously kicked out of Malaysian domestic football.

Faritz, will join the likes of Shawal Anuar, Hairul Syirhan, Nor Azli and Yuki Ichikawa, who have been retained by the Eagles, to wear the green and white stripes at Bedok Stadium.

The 25-year-old is no stranger to the Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League, having played for the Courts Young Lions from 2009 to 2012 before leaving to join the LionsXII in 2013.

Geylang will also announce their new head coach in the coming days after Jorg Steinebrunner left his post to join Warriors FC.
