SPL Football Fiesta 2019: What’s on?

SINGAPORE, 21 FEBRUARY 2019 – You can almost taste the excitement in the air; the anticipation is almost unbearable.

Yes, the start of the 2019 Singapore Premier League (SPL) season is just around the corner now – come this Saturday, 23 February, Albirex Niigata (S) and Home United go head to head in a thrilling Community Shield showdown to mark the opening of the domestic campaign.

But the action will not be confined to the Jalan Besar pitch – just outside the stadium, a stretch of the carpark will be transformed into a hive of activity: the Football Fiesta!

With the aim of educating, entertaining and engaging the crowd, there will be a variety of football-related activities organised by the clubs. Below is what you can expect!

  • SPL booth: A centralised, one-stop shop where all manner of merchandise from the clubs will be on sale! There will also be a Xbox Kinect station for those who want to be more hands-on.
  • SPL club booths: Meet and greet star players, learn about the history of our clubs and take part in fun games!
  • Football Science and Medicine: Think you are fit enough to be a professional footballer? Have a taste of the fitness tests that SPL players undergo!
  • Referees: It is not as easy as it looks – step into the shoes of the men in black and gain insight into the art of refereeing!
  • Small-sided pitches: Fancy a kick-about? Free-play zones on the Jalan Besar pitch will be available for those with itchy feet!

In addition, there will be performances to whip up a party atmosphere, carnival game stalls and a variety of food and beverages to keep everyone occupied ahead of the football action proper.
