Brunei DPMM were crowned as StarHub League Cup Champions and were a whisker away from claiming a double with the Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League trophy, but faltered to finish the season in second spot, on the final day of the league this season.

As fate would have it, the two teams are slated to meet again, this time round in the RHB Singapore Cup third/fourth place play-off.

With only pride at stake, it would seem DPMM have more an impetus to win this game than Tampines Rovers. The Bruneians have lost to Tampines all three times in the league this season, the last of which arguably costed them the title.

But a win will not come easy, especially with DPMM missing rock-solid defender Boris Raspudic at the back through suspension..

“It would be difficult to motivate them after the loss to Tampines,” Kean agreed.

“We certainly do not want to lose our last two games after doing so well in the whole season. It is important to end the season on a strong note and will try to pick them back up.

“We will try to beat Tampines for the first time!”

The Stags are surely confident of emerging victorious once again, despite missing striker Noh Alam Shah too through suspension. The league’s second runner-ups do possess quality forwards, with the likes of Jozef Kaplan and Miljian Mrdakovic available.

Team manager Clement Teo revealed that the team’s approach would be no different from the previous meetings with DPMM.

“We will be approaching the same way because every game is important,” Clement mentioned.

“Rafi Ali has already done well in preparing the squad, so we will contribute.”
