Woodlands Wellington vs Harimau Muda

(August 30, Saturday, 7.30pm, Woodlands Stadium)

Written By: Kenneth Ho

Woodlands Wellington will face Harimau Muda to end their Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League Round Two, and they be hoping for a good end after a disastrous season so far.

After finishing in the top-six last season, Woodlands have faltered in this season and picked up loss after loss. Currently on a four-match losing streak in all competition, it will be hard to see where Woodlands will get their confidence from.

The Rams have not been helped by a 8-1 thrashing in their last game, where league leaders Brunei DPMM showed the exact gulf between both teams.

While Harimau are rooted to the bottom of the table, the Rams will not find it any easier against them.

It is worth keeping in mind too that Woodlands were the first side to fall to Harimau this season, when all teams before had won the Young Tigers.

This will surely give Harimau’s youngsters belief that they can do the double over the Rams.

History also backs the Young Tigers. Since their inception into the Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League, Harimau have never lost to Woodlands, and in fact have won all five games against them so far since 2012.

Considering that, it will be interesting to see if Harimau continue to be Woodlands’ bogey team.

Key Men To Watch

Woodlands Wellington: Moon Soon Ho

Finally, after months of anguish, Moon has scored again, albeit in the 8-1 thrashing by DPMM. This should give him some confidence, and that will be important for strikers who have suffered a goal-drought.

Against a Harimau Muda side prone to conceding soft goals, Moon might just be the man to propel the Rams to victory.

Harimau Muda: Ramzi Sufian

With eight goals to his name, Ramzi is the Young Tigers’ leading scorer. With his pace, Ramzi can trouble the Woodlands backline to no end, while allowing his teammates to get into space as the defence tries to cope with him.
