The 2025/2026 Season for

BG Tampines Rovers FC

A new era dawns for BG Tampines Rovers in the 2025/26 season, with the Stags making sweeping changes both on and off the pitch in their quest to reclaim the league crown.

They were the early pace-setters last season, winning nine and going unbeaten in their first eleven league games. However, inconsistent performances saw them slip off the summit, with inconsistency costing them both the league title and the Singapore Cup.

Under new chairman Shungo Sakamoto, BG Tampines will look to channel previous frustrations into fuel for a renewed title push. The man tasked with leading that charge is Akbar Nawas, who replaces the outgoing Gavin Lee in the dugout. In his previous stint as Stags’ Head Coach in 2016, Akbar steered the team to a league runners-up finish and a quarter-final berth in the AFC Cup.

History & Achievements

Team History

Founded in 1945, BG Tampines Rovers are one of Singapore’s most historic and decorated football clubs. The club has undergone several transformations, including a recent partnership with Thai conglomerate BG Pathum United, which has infused new resources and regional expertise.

Known for their attacking style and vibrant fanbase, the “Stags” have long been a staple of Singapore football, with a strong emphasis on youth development and community engagement. BG Tampines Rovers have won the Singapore Premier League five times: 2004, 2005, 2011, 2012, and 2013, and have lifted the Singapore Cup in 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2019.

They’ve also claimed multiple Community Shields, including a three-year streak from 2011 to 2013. Despite recent competition from privatized clubs, BG Tampines remain a formidable force, blending experienced local players with promising foreign imports.
