Home United completed a sweep of Brunei DPMM in the Great Eastern-Hyundai S.League with a 4-1 victory in Bandar Seri Begawan on Friday night.

Faris Ramli opened the scoring before Croatian forward Stipe Plazibat doubled their lead from the spot. Rafael Ramazotti got one back for the hosts before Faris added a second to put the Protectors 3-1 up at half time.

Faris then turned provider for the fourth goal, allowing substitute Khairul Nizam to score and complete the rout.

The visitors grabbed the lead in the 15th minute after a low cross from the left wing by Sirina Camara was tapped home by Faris.

Home were awarded a penalty three minutes later after Shamil Sharif was brought down in the box and Plazibat made no mistake from the ensuing spotkick.

Song Uiyoung came close to making it three in the 27th minute but his shot was blocked by a DPMM defender.

Ramazotti would pull one back for the hosts on the half hour mark after Azwan Ali Rahman sent him through and he held off his markers before poking the ball past Home goalkeeper Hassan Sunny.

And DPMM should have equalised five minutes later after a Helmi Zambin cutback for Azwan Ali but the latter’s shot went inches wide with Hassan beaten.

The Wasps were then denied a penalty in the 38th minute with Home scoring off a counterattack as Plazibat put the ball into the middle from the right for Faris to score his second of the match.

It took the wind of the sails of the Brunei side and Izzdin was given space at the edge of the box two minutes later but curled an effort over the bar.

DPMM went in search of goals and Adi Said was on target nine minutes into the second half but Hassan dived down to keep out his attempt.

On the hour mark, Home showcased good ball movement to get into the area but it ended with Camara skying his effort instead.

Steve Kean’s side were down to 10 men after Hazwan Hamzah picked up his second yellow card in the 63rd minute.

Home scored their fourth in the 78th minute with Faris putting a cross from the left flank for Khairul to tap in and complete the scoring.

To pile on the misery for DPMM, they were reduced to nine men after Vincent Salas was shown a straight red for his dangerous challenge late into stoppage time.

Brunei DPMM Head Coach Steve Kean: “I thought our performance was excellent. People who weren’t at the game will see the result and think we lost the game and didn’t play well.

“I’m delighted with the players application and attention to organisation.

“If really anybody was here, they know why the result is the way it is. I have never seen so many poor decisions in one match.”

Home United Head Coach Aidil Sharin: “It was a tough game. It is not easy coming here against DPMM with the good players that they have.

“But the boys worked very hard and made it happen to get the three points. That was our objective when we came here.”
