Warriors FC were dealt a heavy 6-0 defeat by Geylang International at the Bedok Stadium in both teams’ final game of the Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League 2015 season.

Geylang overtook Courts Young Lions to finish in eighth spot while last season’s champions Warriors will finish fifth to cap off a disappointing campaign which saw them end with an empty trophy cabinet.

The game had begun in a tepid manner before Yuki Ichikawa rocked the back of net with his long-range effort to open the scoring in the ninth minute.

Still reeling from Ichikawa’s opener, the visitors found their woes compounded four minutes later as Geylang scored another goal.

This time, a quick counter allowed Bruno Castanheira to break free and prod his finish past Ong to double the Eagles’ advantage.

With such a comfortable lead, the Eagles were contented to sit back and soak in the pressure, resulting in the Warriors creating a few chances.

Just before the half-hour mark, Warriors were gifted a chance when Yazid Yasin fumbled a cross but Hafiz Rahim was slow to react and the goalkeeper managed to smother the ball at his next attempt.

Yazid then produced a fine save in the 41st minute to deny Fazrul from close range as the Warriors went into the break with a two-goal deficit.

Things continued in the same fashion after the restart, as Geylang saw no reason to pour forward and risk conceding a goal.

However, the Warriors were unable to make their chances count, with Shi Jiayi lashing just wide of goal in the 57th minute.

Ivancic found the side-netting five minutes later, while another effort by Hafiz Rahim was caught by Yazid.

After trying so hard though, the Warriors were hit by a quick counter in the 79th minute as Jozef Kaplan turned Hafiz Nor’s cross into goal.

The goal did more than extend Geylang’s lead, as it also sapped the Warriors of their energy and motivation to see them then concede three more goals in the space of six minutes.

Hafiz Nor etched his name onto the score sheet with a stunner in the 80th minute and his captain Kaplan produced a similar effort two minutes later to make it 5-0.

Hafiz then provided another assist in the 86th minute to find Castanheira and the latter rifled past Ong to place the icing on the cake for Geylang as they ended their season on a high.
