Written by: Shawn Lim
Albirex Niigata (S) will have a new apparel sponsor starting from the upcoming Great Eastern Yeo’s S.League 2016, after agreeing terms with German sportswear giants Hummel.
Under the deal which is potentially worth $120,000, the White Swans will sport the Danish-based company apparel for the next three seasons.
“We are excited with the team up with Albirex Niigata FC (S), (The New Paper) League and (RHB) Singapore Cup winners of 2015 season,” said Paul Koh, director of Hummel (Southeast Asia).
“One of the most exciting team to watch and most successful foreign invited team which has played in the S.League since 2004.
“We are also pleased to have Albirex Niigata FC (S) as being our first collaboration in Southeast Asia and we are confident that the plans in place of this partnership will have a significant impact in this part of the Asia.”
The White Swans’ home kit will be in their traditional orange colour and for the first time ever, will see three stars above their crest, which signifies the number of local cup competitions they have won.
The words “From here to the world” on the shirt, represents Albirex’s philosophy of building up the next generation of footballers before sending them out to take on the world, while “Since 2004” pays tribute to the number of years the club have been involved in Singapore football.
The sponsorship will also mark Hummel’s return to Southeast Asia and Singapore football, after previously sponsoring the now-defunct Jurong Town FC in the former Singapore Premier League.
