Young Lions Looking To End Season On Winning Note

Courts Young Lions vs Geylang International

(October 25, Saturday, 7.30pm, Jalan Besar Stadium)

Written by: Muhammad Yazid

This will be the Courts Young Lions’ last home game of the season, but while they will be aiming to go home with all three points. the hosts know that this will be easier said than done.

As the 1-0 defeat to Harimau Muda nearly a month ago showed, home advantage counts for nothing if a team fails to take its chances.

The Young Lions have clinched tenth place and will be raring to go for a victory to end the season on a winning note.

The Eagles on the other hand have a near-insurmountable lead in eighth place, and it will take a huge collapse by them to yield that spot.

All they need is a win against the Young Lions to clinch eighth spot.

Three points would be Jorg Steinebrunner’s main objective, as the club looks to better their previous season’s standings.

A win would mean that they finish the season one position above last season’s ninth, and two more points than what they achieved at the end of the 2013 season.

But considering their previous match when they were harsh victims of a 4-0 thrash by Hougang United, it may be difficult for them to be get back on their feet.

Key Men To Watch

Courts Young Lions: M.Anumanthan

He scored his first ever S.League goal against Woodlands Wellington last week, in his second last game of the season.

Whether or not he is aiming to cap off the season with another goal, it can be promised that he would be dictating the flow of the game and make his presence felt in midfield, and even get involved in attacks.

Geylang International: Leonel Felice

The Golden Boot award is far from his reach but that would not prevent him from scoring whenever he wants.

With 12 goals in his bag, the Argentine has been Geylang’s key man throughout the season by scoring goals when most needed.

His finishing ability and ball control is something Young Lions defenders Shakir Hamzah and Amirul Adli have to be wary about.
