Young Tigers Looking For Third Consecutive Win
Harimau Muda vs Geylang International
(October 15, Wednesday, 8.45pm, Pasir Gudang Stadium)
Written by: Shawn Lim
The Eagles take the trip up north to Pasir Gudang Stadium with every intention of avenging their heartbreaking loss to the Young Tigers in the reverse fixture in June.
This time, Jorg Steinebrunner will drum the importance of holding on to the lead in to his players in the event that Geylang scores first. He was not very pleased when his side failed to hold onto their two-goal lead at half-time four months ago.
This will not be an easy game though, as the Young Tigers have finally found a winning formula, albeit with the season coming to an end.
His opposite counterpart, Razip Ismail will be hoping that his charges continue their hardworking displays, which has been the catalyst for their two-game winning streak. The Young Tigers have found a way to win consistently despite playing unimpressively.
Razip has spoken of his hopes that Harimau Muda finish above their rivals, Courts Young Lions in Tier Two. With a win over the Eagles, his team will leapfrog Woodlands Wellington and continue to draw further away from the Young Lions.
Key Men To Watch
Harimau Muda: Syawal Nordin
If Harimau Muda are intending to keep their third consecutive clean sheet, they will look to Syawal to keep the backline tidy and organised.
According to InStat, in the Young Tigers draw against Woodlands, he made 16 successful attempts to win back the ball in his own half, three less than his goalkeeper, Ramdhan Hamid.
Geylang International: Fabian Kwok
Up against the youthful Harimau, speed and careful tackling will be essential. The hard-tackling Kwok should be the man for the job, as the Eagles look to him to break up Harimau’s plays.
Kwok also has shown he has an eye for goal this season, and up against one of the poorest defence in the league, he might fancy nicking a goal or two.
